Warsaw - Vilnius (day 9)

Today we left Poland (temporarily) behind us and drove to the next country: Lithuania! To the capital Vilnius to be precise. With only ± 600,000 inhabitants, Vilnius is not really a metropolis, so it was not really busy on the way there (or maybe because it was Sunday).

After breakfast and again with a packed lunch ready, we packed our suitcases and loaded them into the car. Then it was time for the long journey to Vilnius. On the way, we stopped a few times for a toilet break or for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. After about eight hours of driving, we finally arrived in the Lithuanian capital. Here it is an hour later than in the Netherlands (see also the clock next to / below). When we arrived at the apartment, we brought the suitcases inside and my father parked the car somewhere, since it is not possible to park in front of the door. After he came back, we went looking for a restaurant to eat (it was too late to go grocery shopping and make our own food). Eventually we ended up at a Greek restaurant. After dinner, we walked a bit through the old city. What really stands out are the bombastic government buildings, which are built in Greek / Roman style, but then megalomaniacal big! After this short walk we went back to the apartment. Tomorrow we will explore Vilnius further, see you then!
