Hello everyone, today finally started my trip to Canada after a moderate night's rest. The country where I really wanted to go to, because it's on top of my bucketlist because of the beautiful nature, but also because the Netherlands can live in peace for 75 years already thanks to the liberation of the Canadians (often it's thought of the Americans, but this is not the case). That's why I wanted to visit this country.
The day started of good, with the message that the security staff's strike was cancelled. Because of this we arrived too early at the airport and so we could take it easy. After long waiting at the gate we could start boarding on schedule and once in the plane we got to hear that the flight was delayed with 40 to 50 minutes, this had to do with some problems at the air traffic control in Paris, which affected whole Europe. Eventually we took off with an hour delay, which was brought back to half an hour during the flight. So we were only an half hour late at Vancouver. Once we were there we had to wait in a long queue for the customs and after that in a long queue at the car rental company. Eventually we could choose from two SUV's (a nice blue one or a bigger white one, we chose the latter). In half an hour we drover to the hotel where we had to look for a parking place. That wasn't easy to find, but it turned out that the hotel has an underground parking lot... Problem solved! After checking into the hotel we dropped our luggage in the rooms and went for a little walk to the beach (which is just across the street) and next we walked back towards the street with all the restaurants. Here we had dinner at a Persian grillroom, after that we walked a bit more and then back to the hotel. After a day of about 20 hours we are exhausted and ready for a good night's rest. Tomorrow the adventure really starts and we will leave Vancouver for our first stage. So far the first day, onto the next!
