Cache Creek - Whistler (day 12)

The day started early in the morning, we were up at 7:00 hour. Right away we packed our suitcases and left, it was about three hours driving to our next destination; Whistler.

On our way we stopped at a place called Lillooet, where we had breakfast at a bakery. Besides a good breakfast the bakery also has a nice interior decorated with antique stuff  from the '50's / '60's (think about a steam iron, an old tc, an antique saw and planer), but also shelves with books and a rocking chair. After breakfast we drove on in the direction of Whistler, until we stopped at Joffre Lake. This is a quite small, but beautiful lake with emerald greenish colored water! Once arrived at Whistler we checked in the hotel, where we have a suite. A very luxurious suite that is,it's actually a complete house, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a complete kitchen, a dining table, a living room and a chimney! This part of Whistler is part of the ski resort village. We strolled through this village and it looks really nicely, like a typical wintersport resort but very beatiful laid out. Above all this village was part of the Olympic- and Paralymic Games of (Vancouver) 2010. So there's also an Olympic plaza, where the medal ceremonies took place. Nowadays all the medal winners are noted here. In the village there's also a grocery store where we bought things for dinner (and other things). When we got back to our room (it rained all day non-stop by the way, so we were soaking wet) we were doing not much but think about what to do (tomorrow), depending on the weather. I layed down on the bed to take some rest (I haven't slept great last night). When I woke up again it was time to cook dinner and aftert that have dinner. After dinner we had the rest of the evening off, once again thanks to the weather. Tomorrow we will  go (depending on the weather) up the mountain by skytram, where we transfer to another skytram that goes from mountain top to mountain top. This is the only one in the world that goes like that (normally it goes from valley to mountain top). After that we'll go driving to the westcoast to take the ferry to Vancouver Island (first we have to book a place aboard the ferry).
