Victoria - Vancouver (day 17)

17/9/2019

Opmerkingen

Today we left Vancouver Island behind us, sadly, to return to Vancouver city. But after breakfast we first visited the Royal British Columbia Museum. In this museum everything is set up big and consists of two levels, on the first floor it's about the history of the nature in British Columbia and the second floor about the human history of the same province. There's also a temporary exhibition about the Mayan culture and history.
After seeing this museum we drove to Swartz Bay, the harbor of Victoria, to get the ferry to the mainland again. After waiting for a little less than an hour we could finally go aboard and the fare took about 1,5 hour to the otherside. This time we haven't seen a (killer) whale unfortunately... Once back on land we drove to Vancouver, to our next stay. On our way we were stuck in traffic jam several times, which caused us to arrive late in the afternoon at our location. Closing of a holiday is something you do in style, so instead of a motel or hotel room we now have a guest house in villa-style! Once checked in and leaving our luggage in the room we took of again by car to go to the city center of Vancouver. On our way there we stopped at a Superstore to do some groceries for tomorrow, after that we continued on to the center. We did however, once again, some traffic delay which took us about an hour to get there. When we arrived at the center and found a parking place we started looking for a restaurant to have dinner. Finally we found an Indian restarurant where we had dinner. After dinner we walked around the block of Gastown, which is the old city center. Here you can also find an old steam-powered clock, which is also the first one in the world. After the walk we returned to the car and drove back to the guest house, where the hostess (a Chinese woman)  opened the door for us and we had a little chat. It turned out that she used to be the CEO of HunkemΓΆller (a lingerie store) in China for three years.
