Vancouver - Merrit (day 2)

The day started of with the daily groceries at the 7Eleven. For breakfast we bought some bread, spreads, some drinks and at the greengrocer some fruits and vegatables. In the hotelroom (or actually a suite) we made some breakfast and packed up our luggage and checked out of the hotel. After this the journey could really start!

The first stop was at Harrison Hot Springs where we had lunch around noon with an amazing view over the lake and (picturesque) mountains behind it. After lunch in picknick-style we drove on to Hell's Gate Canyon. Here you can walk down or take the cable car down. We chose option one. This was a suspension bridge at a small village-like centre in an indian reserve where in the (wild water stream) a construction was located which is supposed to help the salmon a little (who swim against the current to lay their eggs). Along this centre there's a railroad track where suddenly a very long freight train passed by. Lucky us, as we thought, to record  how the train goes by the mountain wall and through a tunnel! Afterwards it turned out that these freight trains pass by every now and then... Moreover the train is at least multiple kilometers long (without overreacting!). After seeing this we wanted to walk up again, but exactly the moment we wanted to go another long train passed by so the road up was barricaded and also the train is moving very slowly so it takes about 20 minutes before the train is fully passed. So the cable car it is... Once back at the car we drove to Merrit, where we will spend the night. Here we will stay at a typical American motel. After checking in we drove to the supermarket to buy something for tomorrows' breakfast and dinner for this evening. Once back at the motel dinner stil needed to be prepared and finally we were having dinner (over)tired at 21:00 H. Tomorrows program is not known yet, so that will be a little surprise. It is a good excuse to read tomorrows' story, will I see you again? ?
