Decimomannu - Pula - Cagliari - Decimomannu (day 12)

The day started, like every other day, with breakfast and preparing the packed lunch. Then we drove to Pula, this is the southernmost point of our trip. In Pula we went to Nora. This is an archaeological site containing remains of a Roman settlement dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Here you can admire an amphitheater and a palace with beautifully preserved mosaic floors. Nora is located in a special location: on the tip of a headland! I have never experienced archaeological sites at such a location before. Then we drove to Cagliari, this is the capital of Sardinia.

In Cagliari (a port city in the bay) we went to the old town, which is of course on a high ground. So we walked up a lot of stairs (in the heat)... Once we arrived at the top we visited the old cathedral, which was beautifully decorated with frescoes on the inside. After seeing this cathedral we walked further to the old amphitheater, on the way there we stopped at a café for a refreshing cold drink to cool down a bit and quench our thirst. Once we were cooled down and had quenched our thirst, we walked further to the amphitheater, which is a ruin, but still looks really cool. This one was carved out of the mountainside! After seeing this, we walked back to the car and drove back to our apartment in Decimomannu, where we first did some groceries (including getting dinner). Once back in the apartment, we took a refreshing shower to rinse off all that sweat, then cooked and had dinner. After dinner another relaxing evening! Tomorrow we will drive to our last stop on this island, Orosei. This will be our next place to stay, then we will go to Olbia from where we will take the ferry back to mainland Italy (on Sunday). However, this does not mean the end of the journey. You can of course read what else we have in store later, but first we will go to Orosei tomorrow!
