Patrimonio - Corte - Ucciani (day 5)

The day started with breakfast, packing up the suitcases and making a packed lunch. After that we had to clean up the apartment ourselves (beforehand we could choose to clean it ourselves or to let someone else clean it. In the last case we had to pay 50 euro extra). Around 10:00 AM the owner of the apartment would show up to inspect the cleaning we did so we could get our deposit back. After all this we could finally proceed to our next destination: Corte.

In Corte we visited the citadel of the city. The citadel of Corte was build in the 15th century, though the foundation already existed before. The Romans already built the first part around 200 before Christ. After visiting the citadel we continued our journey to our next overnight stay: Ucciani, on our way there we stopped at a waterfall called Cascade du Voile de la Mariëe, or bridal veil waterfall. At this waterfall we encountered some pigs, of which we were not sure if they are wild pigs or that they are someones property After seeing the waterfall we continued our way to Ucciani, where we encountered more pigs on our way there along the road. Once we arrived at the apartment (which is more like a farm stay, the owners have two donkeys, chickens and two dogs) my parents did some groceries. Once they got back we did some cooking and had dinner. After dinner we didn't do much, because there is not much to do in the area. Tomorrow we will go to the capital of Corsica: Ajaccio, where we will also continue to Bonifacio in the south of the island, for our stay for the next night.
