My next travel adventure is in the works and the destination is... Bulgaria!

To be honest, it took a long time for new travel plans to take shape. This was due to plans we had to visit family in Israel. However, given the ongoing volatile situation in the Middle East and the unpredictability of that "orange president", we unfortunately had to decide that a trip to see our family in Israel wasn't feasible. So, we explored other options and ultimately chose Bulgaria!​

While this Eastern European (Balkan) nation is one of the poorest in Europe and faces issues with crime, it isn't exactly a major tourist hotspot—which is reason enough to go and discover it! What makes it even more appealing is the fact that Bulgaria adopted the euro as its currency on January 1st (replacing the lev). Our plan is to fly to Sofia on September 3rd, pick up a rental car at the airport, and spend two weeks driving through the western half of the country. In addition to the capital, our itinerary includes stops in Plovdiv and the national park in the southwest (which promises plenty of natural beauty). I’m already looking forward to it and am really curious to see what Bulgaria has to offer, as I honestly know very little about the country, its history, or its culture. Naturally, I hope you’re just as excited about this trip as I am and will follow along closely when the time comes. See you then!
