Kalampaka - Nea Makri (day 12)

After another great breakfast we went to the monasteries this morning. First we went to the monastery that is furthest away, I found this one actually nicer than the one we visited yesterday. Anyway it's bigger (at least, the parts that are open to public). In the monastary was , besides the monastary itself, a museum section about different wars that took place in this region among other things. Including the 2nd world war.

The 2nd monastery that we visited was all the way on the other side. This one is easier accessible, because this one is quite flat. Moreover this is a monastery where only nuns work / live / are. There wasn't much accessible, except for a nice panoramic deck and the monastery itself (which is nicely decorated with all kinds of colorful and religious images on the inside). After seeing the monasteries we drove in one go to Nea Makri. We did stop on our way at Agios Konstantinos, where we had lunch while enyjoying the view over the sea and the mountains. After finishing our lunch we continued our way to. 230 kilometers from our starting point and half a day later we arrived at Nea Makri. We dropped our luggage in the hotelroom and put on our swimming clothes and went to the hotel swimmingpool for a refreshing dive and to get some tan. About 1,5 hours later we freshned up and walked to the boulevard of Nea Makri. Here we went to a restaurant for dinner and after dinner we walked back over the boulevard to our hotel. Tomorrow we will presumably visit Marathon and after that we will probably go snorkeling, however change of plans is reserved. But you will read about that tomorrow, for now I will enjoy the rest of the evening and after that take the night's rest. See you tomorrow and a good night in advance!
