Jodhpur - Jaisalmer (day 10)

This morning after breakfast we drove to the old city of Jodhpur. Here we visited a memorial place where maharaja's and other important persons are cremated. Their remains (bones and ashes) will be scattered on the Ganges river. This is a holy river for Hindus. At almost walking distance from the memorial place you'll find the fortress of Jodhpur. This is a big and beautiful fortress with a lot of bling-bling. There was also a museum with weapons, objects used for ceremonies, seats beloning to the maharaja's (17th, 18th and 19th century) used to sit on an elephant.

After this we drove to a restaurant for lunch. After lunch we continued driving to Pokhran. Here we made a short stop to visit a small fortress. This wasn't such a big deal, from the outside it looked quite nice. But the interior was very empty except for some showcases containing some objects. Besides that our guide explained everything as short as possible. It took us max 1 second at every showcase before continuing to the next showcase. So we were outside again in no-time. Finally we continued our way in one go to Jaisalmer (over 200 km, in other words about 4 hours driving). Unfortunately today had the first victim of the notorious diarrhea in India. My dad was the unlucky one, hope it will be over as soon as possible! Upon arrival at the beautiful hotel (shaped like a fortress), we went to the swimming pool for a change. After freshing up again, we walked around the fortress... euh... hotel to explore it. After that we had dinner, for my dad the rice alone was enough. Tomorrow we will visit the fortress of Jaisalmer and there are some other things on our program (can't remember it right now) and later on we will go deeper into the desert to take a camel ride and watch the sunset!
