After sleeping a night like a Maharaja (prince) in a palace, we went to a national park. Here we spotted many different (species of) birds, but also monkeys, a wild boar and some antelope! Next we continued our way to Jaipur. Halfway there (it's about 4 hours driving) we had an excellent lunch at a restaurant. After the lunch we got back in the car, to drive to a very ancient Hindu temple. This temple is known for honoring the monkeys, they are holy animals (just like cows). At this temple we have seen and fed hundreds, maybe even thousands of monkeys (we also had a guide, he had shelled peanuts with him to feed the monkeys). So the monkeys sat on our shoulders and we have photos of that. This was really a fun experience, a bit different than watching monkeys in a zoo like Artis!
After this wonderful happening we finally drove on to our hotel in Jaipur. This is where we checked in... and hit the streets again. There was a Bollywood movie on our program! The movie ("Singh is Bling") had it's premiere night today. The movie is 3 hours long, but halfway during the break we had seen enough. To be honest we don't really like this kind of movies. First of all we can't understand most of it, because it's spoken in the Hindu language. Although some parts are spoken in English, because the movie contains some Western characters. One of them is a beautiful lady, supposedly British. This was actually my highlight of the movie (together with the popcorn and cola 😜). I have to say by the way that the lobby of the cinema looked very beautiful (and big)! The capacity of the cinema is comparable with the big theaters in Holland (think about Carré). It was also an extraordinary experience to see a Bollywood movie in a cinema in India, the crowd was cheering, shouting and applauding at every fighting scene where the heroïn (The British lady) wins a fight, or the same lady comes walking out the sea in a bikini, or when a famous Bollywood-star appears on screen. Very different than we are used in Holland! After the movies (are actually during the break) we went back to the hotel to have dinner (which was once again delicious).
Last night I've slept like a prince, this night I will be sleeping like a king! Because the hotelroom looks like a suite. The room has a sitting area / living room, a bedroom, and a gigantic bathroom with shower and a jacuzzi (centred in the bathroom)! And that all just for myself! Where are the harems? 😕 So far this day, tomorrow my adventure continues with a fortress, a museum and some shopping (time to get some souvenir! 😉) |
