Jaipur (day 5)

After a good night's rest in my palace.. euh... hotelroom and having a royal breakfast... a la carte we hit the streets again to a very big palace (from a maharaja naturally), named Amber. This palace is located in the old city of Jaipur. The old city is also called "Pink City", because all the buildings have the pink color. The palace is on top of a mountain. The special thing about this palace (or so called "mahal") is that you have to go uphill to the entrance on the back of the elephant! This was a particular experience, for me it was even the first time ever.
The palace had a big wall surrounding the perimeter which reminded of the Chinese wall. After seeing this palace we went to a restaurant to have some lunch. With a filled stomach we continued to the industrial area of Jaipur. The city is known for its handmade carpets, silk clothes, jewels made of gems and printed artworks. This is where we got a demonstration about how its made. Finally we went to the palace of a maharaja. A part of the palace isn't accessible, because the maharaja still lives here. In the part of the palace that is open to public, there is a gallery. Here you can see what kind of beautiful clothes, turban and other chic wealthiness the old maharajas had in the 17th century.

Once back in the hotel we were completely exhausted, but this hotel has a swimming pool as well. I will be royaly (
😉) enjoying it! Absolutely when there's no one around. This swimming pool is also practically next door... life ain't bad at all. From India I whish you a happy World Animal Day, spoil your pet a little extra! Tomorrow the journey continues to Pushkar and Deogarh... 🙂
