Rotterdam - Marrakesh (day 1)

Today is finally the day! The first post-covid adventure starts, although I've already been in Israel in June, but that's more like a family visit than an adventure. The journey starts today with a car drive towards Rotterdam The Hague Airport and from there on to Marrakesh by plane.

The flight itself went really smooth, even though we had a delay of 15 minutes, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. After a little more than 3 hours we arrived at Marrakesh Airport. Here we were awaited by people from the travel company which took us to the (Dutch) speaking guide. We followed him to the bus where our luggage was loaded in, and we could hop on. Next we drove to the hotel which was about 20 minutes driving. When we arrived at the hotel we had a couple of hours of free time to rest a bit (or just like we did to arrange some things, like buying some bottles of water because tap water in Morocco isn't drinkable). Once we bought the 12 pack of water we walked back to the hotel to drop the 12 pack off and (with some bottles in our bags) we asked for a map of the city at the front desk of the hotel. With the map in our hands we wanted to walk to the old city of Marrakech, but this turned out to be a bit too far and also the street name signs are very rare, so the map is pretty useless. Eventually we ended up at a square (with the appropriate name Marrakesh Plaza) which was only halfway to the old city. From here on we walked back to the hotel to be on time for dinner, which was planned for 19:30 hour, we arrived well on time, so we could have some rest in the hotel room. Once we rested enough we went for dinner. After dinner we walked outside to have some coffee and Moroccan tea at a nearby terrace. When we finished our drinks we walked back to the hotel. Tomorrow we have to get up early, because breakfast is planned for 7:00 hour, an hour later we will leave for Casablanca. In this city, with a Spanish name, we will visit a mosque amongst other things. This mosque is the third-biggest mosque in the world, but has the tallest minaret in the world with 210 meters high!
