Meknès - Volubilis - Meknès - Fes (day 4)

After a bit of a meager breakfast, which was luckily just enough to start the day, we drove to Volubilis with the bus. Here we visited a Roman ruin complex, where well maintained mosaic floors from the 1st and 2nd century were visible.

After visiting this we drove back to Meknès for a coffee break. After the coffee break we drove to the medina of the city by bus, where we were as well yesterday. Here we had lunch, but in another restaurant as yesterday. This time around the corner of the royal palace. After this delicious lunch we drove to Fes. In Fes we visited a pottery, where the best quality ceramics and mosaic tiles of Morocco are made. They also show how it's made, from clay to ceramics and mosaic tiles. It's regarded as the best quality because the clay is heated twice as the only pottery in Morocco and because the clay that is used contains certain minerals, including iron which causes the clay to become as hard as a rock after heating it up, so it becomes (almost) unbreakable. After this tour we drove to the hotel of Fes where we will spend the next two nights. Unfortunately there's no wifi in the room. But luckily there's a couch just outside my room where there is wifi. Tomorrow we will stay in Fes as I mentioned earlier. Here we will go to a tannery and visit the Jewish quarter among other things. See you next time! :)
