Rijeka - Zadar (day 10)

After yesterdays' accident, which caused that the car couldn't lock anymore and even put the continuation of our vacation at risk there's some good news today: the tailgate is provisionally repaired, so the car can be locked again! This means that our vacation can go on! :D

With this good news we immediately hit the road. Our destination for today is Zadar, which is more southward along the coast. Our first stop was a coffee break with a beautiful panoramic view. After the coffee we continued our way to Senj. Here we stopped to visit the fortress called Nehaj. After seeing this remarkable small fortress (which reminded me of the Belém tower in Lisbon) we walked to the boulevard to the place where our car is parked, here we had lunch on a bench in the shadow, at the Adriatic Sea. After lunch, we drove on in one go to Zadar along the coast way, where we constantly had a panoramic view over the sea and the islands in the distance. Beautiful! Once arrived in Zadar it was almost evening. Immediately we searched for a restaurant to have dinner, when we stumbled upon a wedding celebration just outside the church doors. We stood and watched the celebration until the happy newly-weds came outside and joined the party (with waving flags and light flares). After dinner, we walked through the old city where we went to see the sea organ among others, this is an organ played by the waves of the sea! How cool is that? Next time I need to bring ear plugs though, because it makes a lot of noise! Finally, we strolled along the night market by accident after which we walked back to the apartment. Tomorrow our journey continues (to my big joy) 'as usual' to Split!
