Makarska - Dubrovnik (day 13)

After breakfast, we drove on to Dubrovnik in one go, which is still about a little less than three hours driving. Once arrived in Dubrovnik we first did some laundry and groceries. Next we went to the old city of Dubrovnik by bus, because it's too far away to walk and going by car is no option since parking costs 10 euro per hour, and it's difficult to find a parking place in the first place.

The old city, which is one of the best preserved fortresses of Europe with walls that were built between the eleventh and seventeenth century is a giant structure. Here we spent a good few hours walking down the old streets and looking at a lot of old buildings. Also, you will find (one of) the oldest pharmacies of Europe here, which is still operating (in a more modern setting)! Besides that this was, just like Split, used as a filming location for Game of Thrones. When we started to get hungry we had a quick snack and about an hour later we went to a restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we walked around a bit more, and then we took the bus back to the apartment. The next few nights we will stay in Dubrovnik, but we will make a few trips abroad from here. Starting tomorrow when we will go to Kotor in Montenegro!
