Dubrovnik - Mostar - Šibenik (day 16)

After breakfast, we made some sandwiches for on the road, because we left early in the morning to go to Bosnia & Herzegovina to visit the Mostar. This city is known for the high bridge.

This bridge was built in the sixteenth century and completed in 1566. During the Balkan war early in the 90s the bridge got destroyed, after the war the bridge was rebuilt. The bridge was financed with EU money and had a festive reopening in 2004. Moreover, the bridge is 19 meters high, since 1998 there is also an annual competition held for the male inhabitants of the city where they're being challenged to jump from the bridge into the river! Naturally we walked over the bridge (we didn't take the jump...) and into the old city. Once we had seen the city we went back to the car and drove back to Croatia, this time to Šibenik. This city turned out to have a big old city, where we walked through it to eventually end up at a restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we walked via a small park and the harbor back to the apartment. Tomorrow we will go to the last but certainly not the least place in Croatia already, unfortunately: Plitvice (National Park)!
