Šibenik - Plitvice (National Park) - Smoljanac (day 17)

During breakfast, we also made some sandwiches for on the road, because today Plitvice National Park is on the program!

This park is located in the north of Croatia and is one of the oldest natural parks in Europe. In this park you will find waterfalls, azure blue lakes, a lot of fish and a lot of green. We walked for about three hours through the park, where a part of the route is done by boat. After these three hours of walking we had enough of it and walked back to the car, which is now wedged in by a Romanian car (the car was parked on a slope, where the backside was wedged in by the Romanian car and driving forward wasn't possible because thanks to the soil the front was buried in the sand). Luckily a few bystanders notice how we were messing around and wanted to help us out by pushing the car forward. The first try was an immediate success! Tribute to these people (among them Flemish people)! Because of this we could continue our way onto our next stay in Smoljanac, which is just fifteen minutes driving away from the park. Once checked in at the apartment we did some groceries and after that we went to a restaurant by car to have dinner. After dinner, we went straight back to the apartment. Tomorrow we will leave Croatia unfortunately, and we will drive to Austria via Slovenia.
