Amsterdam - Bangkok (arrival and day 1)

Hello and welcome from Bangkok! The journey actually started  yesterday, halfway in the afternoon we were picked up and taken to train which would take us to Schiphol Airport. The whole procedure went smoothly and the flight itself was fine as well, except that I could barely sleep aboard the airplane. After arrival on the airport a taxidriver (with poor vision) brought us to the hotel (dΓ©jΓ  vu from China). Once checked in at the hotel and dropping our luggage at the hotelroom we decided to head to the city centre, by skytrain. This is like an above ground metro, but on a monorail.
Firstly we went besides with the skytrain also by boat to Wat Arun. This giant Buddhistic temple is the highest of Bangkok, with 79 meters! We continued our way to the next temple complex, Wat Pho. This is mostly known from the giant Reclining Buddha statue, with sizes of 15 meters high and 45 meters long(!) Furthermore Wat Pho contains a big selection of temples, one even more beautiful than the other. All decorated with mosaic stones and golden eaves. After this we tried some Thai street food, having great hunger. I have to admit that I have never tried Thai food before... But the chicken noodles was pretty good (although quite incovenient with a fork and a spoon). After this meal the exhaustion kicked in well, from a long day travelling and a terrible night rest aboard the airplane. With our last bits of energy we made it back to the hotel, to lay down kocked-out. Once concious again (and still very tired) we freshed up and took the skytrain again, only this time not to the city centre but in the other direction for one stop. That is where the night life of Bangkok is supposed to happen, but we also went there to find some dinner and to stroll on the night market. The ironic part is that the night market is at the same location as where the nightlife happens; in the red light district. This is where the so called 'pinkpong' shows are given and no this has nothing to do with table tennis! We know this better as 'peepshows'. Besides that there are also 18+ clubs where the girls take a dance in their lingerie in the door opening of the club. Good fun such a night market! Around 21:15 PM we had enough and called it a day so we decided to go back to the hotel, to get the well needed night rest. Tomorrow day 2 of Bangkok, stay tuned!
