After a short night there's a new dawn, even in Kanchanaburi. For today there's a relaxed program. After breakfast a tuktuk brought us to the bus station, there we took the bus to Erewan Waterfalls (part of Erewan National Park). The trio took about an hour / 1.5 hours and that in an old and rusty vehicle without springs!
Upon arrival, it was only climbing, because the waterfalls consists of 7 stores, of which the last one is 2 km climbing and the one closest by is just 500 meters away. Some parts were even quite difficult to climb, and you needed to cross the water multiple times. After about an hour climbing we arrived at the 7th store. This one consists of a pool with fishes (the fishes that nibble at your feet) and if you walk up some more there's a waterfall, which is a refreshing shower! In the pool with the fishes is where I also went snorkeling with my snorkeling mask to view the fishes from underwater (the water is quite clear) After drying up again we walked back down. On our way back we saw a Komodo dragon getting in the water and swimming down the stream, and we saw a monkey jumping from tree to tree. When we almost reached the parking space it suddenly started to rain hard out of nothing (although we already heard loud thunder on our way, even though the sun was shining). Because it was raining so hard (thankfully I had my umbrella with me!) we entered a restaurant to get some lunch and also because we had to wait for the bus to take us back to Kanchanaburi. When the bus came it was driving back again for an hour to 1.5 hours. From the bus station we walked back to the guest house (about 10 minutes walking), here we had something to drink and after that we walked to a restaurant along the riverside (on recommendation of the guest house-keeper) for dinner. After dinner, we walked back to the guest house for some coffee / tea. Tomorrow morning we will leave again, towards already our 3 destination: Ayuttaha, north of Bangkok. See you soon!
