Mersin - Anamur (day 13)

After breakfast, we prepared some sandwiches for lunch. Then it was time to leave Mersin behind and drive to Anamur, making a stop along the way at a gas station for coffee, a simit (= a ring-shaped bread with sesame), and a restroom break.

We then continued on to Anamur, where, upon arrival at the hotel, we changed into our swimwear and drove to Anamur Castle. This castle is located by the sea and looks intact from the outside, but inside it’s a ruin. We walked along the castle walls and across the inner courtyard in the heat of the day, so sweating was guaranteed. Luckily, right next to the castle you could take a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea, which of course we did. The water had a perfectly pleasant temperature, so it was very enjoyable. Afterwards, we drove back to the hotel to take a shower and put on clean clothes. After that, we drove about five minutes to a restaurant where we had dinner. After eating, we walked to a supermarket to pick up a few groceries before heading back to the car and driving back to the hotel. Tomorrow we’ll arrive at our final destination before returning to Antalya to fly home. Tomorrow’s stop is Alanya, a well-known tourist resort town. For now, we don’t have any plans yet, so we’ll see what the day brings! That means one more blog post tomorrow. The very last one won’t be on Thursday, since our flight is late in the evening, and we’ll only arrive home around 3 or 4 in the morning (on Friday). Naturally, we’ll want to get some sleep first. So the last update will follow later on Friday, or otherwise on Saturday. But first, tomorrow: Alanya and the blog post about it! :)
