Anamur - Alanya (day 14)

17/9/2025

Opmerkingen

Today we had a hotel with breakfast included, so we didn’t have to prepare anything ourselves or make sandwiches for lunch. After a tasty breakfast, we packed our suitcases and drove to Alanya, a well-known tourist resort, via a beautiful mountain road lined with a lot of huge banana plantations.
After about two hours of driving, we arrived at the apartment a few hours earlier than check-in time. Luckily, my room was already ready, and I was able to use it right away. Just in time, because I felt my stomach rumbling... I quickly made it to the toilet and unfortunately had diarrhea. Afterwards, I cautiously ate a sandwich (from yesterday’s packed lunch) and drank some water, which went fine. I then lay down on my bed to rest (also to catch up on some lost sleep from the night before), while my parents went out for groceries. When they came back, their room was ready too. I joined them briefly at the lunch table for a glass of water, but then had to rush back to my room with another bout of stomach trouble. After that, I decided to take a siesta while my parents went to the swimming pool (which I would have liked too, but I didn’t want to risk things going wrong there). When they came back from the swimming pool, I started to feel hungry and ate my second sandwich in their room, which felt much better. My dad went out to buy bread while I sat puzzling with my mom until he returned. Later, we walked to the harbor of Alanya through the bazaar, where we strolled along the boulevard. By then it was dinner time, so we found a restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal, served by a friendly waiter who even spoke a bit of Dutch. After dinner, we walked back into the bazaar, bought some souvenirs and spices, and then returned to the apartment. There we had a drink in the room and discussed our plans for tomorrow. We’re now facing our very last night in Turkey before flying back to the Netherlands tomorrow evening. As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, there won’t be a post tomorrow since our flight is late in the evening, and we’ll arrive in the Netherlands in the middle of the night and will arrive home around 3 or 4 AM on Friday morning. The final blog post will therefore be online sometime Friday or Saturday, depending on how tired I will be...
