Fethiye - Pamukkale (day 5)

8/9/2025

Opmerkingen

A new day, a new destination! This morning, as always, we first had breakfast and prepared a packed lunch. Then it was time to (re)pack the suitcases and load them into the car to drive to Pamukkale. This village is known for its limestone terraces on top of the mountain. Along the way, we made a few stops.
The first stop was a short one: simply enjoying the view of a reservoir. After that, we continued on our way and later stopped at a gas station for a cup of coffee (and in my case, a can of Fanta). After the coffee, we drove on until just before Pamukkale. There, we stopped at a spot next to an outdoor swimming pool to have lunch. After lunch, we drove the final stretch to the (very large) apartment where we’ll be staying for the next two nights. Once we arrived, we took it easy for a bit. We had to do some laundry, and after the poor night’s sleep I had, I also took a siesta to catch up on some rest. Around 4 p.m., I woke up again and spent some time puzzling in a puzzle book until it was time for dinner. Before eating, we went for a short walk toward the famous limestone terraces, about 10 minutes from here. Once there, we discovered a large limestone pool in front of it and saw a big group of geese (I’d never seen so many geese together before!). We walked around the lake and also spotted a waterfall running over the white limescale deposits, quite a sight! We even saw some frogs, and in the lake, there were also large fish swimming around. Afterward, we went to a restaurant where we had a very nice meal, served by a very friendly owner / waiter, who also gave us some souvenirs and ice-cold bottles of water afterward (definitely not a luxury in this heat!). After dinner, we took a short stroll through the small village and were treated to a beautiful sunset over the mountains on the other side (well, not the sun itself, but the sky and clouds turned a gorgeous orange and fiery red). Tomorrow we will visit the limestone terraces early in the morning!
